Talks | Curator Jordana Moore Saggese on Basquiat
Ticket purchase is possible only for logged-in users.
Basquiat, the Blue Ribbon Paintings, and the Art of Reproduction(opens in a new tab) platforms the artist’s radical engagements with replication and reproductive media to understand him in a new and compelling light.
In this talk, exhibition curator Jordana Moore Saggese examines this lesser-known dimension of Basquiat’s practice—one that complicates the popular image of him as a purely spontaneous painter—and explores how the “Blue Ribbon paintings” illuminate his interest in seriality and the circulation of images.
Registration is required and includes early access to the exhibition beginning at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 3.
Members receive full-day access to the exhibition from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the members preview day on October 3, before it opens fully to the public on Sunday, October 4. If you are not yet a member, join today(opens in a new tab)!
